St. Francis will head into its bye week on a high note.
The Golden Knights, who were 1-3 and surrendered an average of 53 points per game, shut out visiting Muir, 41-0, in a nonleague showdown of neighboring schools.
Jack Jacobs had a huge night for SFHS.
The Golden Knights senior was 12-of-18 for 235 yards and that included five TD passes.
Jacobs and Jett McCullough hooked up on TD connections of 2 and 15 yards.
Jacobs opened the scoring with a 41-strike to Hank Foley and St. Francis would take a 13-0 lead when Jacobs found Drushun Phillips on a 20-yard score.
Jacobs hit Antonio Merlos on a 14-yard TD pass to cap the night for the Golden Knights’ offense.
Another encouraging note to pass along, Devyn Turner, the Allen, Texas transfer, who got injured in week zero, made his first appearance since August 19th and had a 10-yard TD run in the second quarter.
Not only did the SFHS defense pitch their first shutout of 2022, they picked off three passes and recovered a fumble.
Jachai Pulley anchored the Muir ground game, gaining 77 yards on 15 carries.
Makhi Clark and Alexander Mitchell had four catches apiece for a combined 74 yards.
Up next: St. Francis will have next week off, and then the Golden Knights will host Paraclete on Friday, September the 30th.
