PLAYER OF THE YEAR
JACKSON MOSLEY, ST. FRANCIS, SENIOR
St. Francis’ Jackson Mosley competed in arguably the best high school league in the country and never backed down, proving himself time and time again.
Mosley, a four-year varsity player with several scholarship offers, averaged 19.4 points, 4.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds this season as St. Francis finished 20-11 overall and went 5-3 in the Mission League, which boasted CIF-SS Open Division champion Harvard-Westlake and CIF State Division I champion Notre Dame.
Mosley was a Mission League first-team selection and he is the Star-News’ boys basketball player of the year.
Mosley won 86 games with the Golden Knights, which is the most by a player in school history. He finished with 1,184 career points.
In a game where St. Francis nearly upset Harvard Westlake, Mosley scored 25 points, and he had 23 points with five 3-pointers in a win over Loyola.
“I got a lot of flack when he played varsity as a freshman, but there was always something we saw in him that you can’t teach,” St. Francis coach Todd Wolfson said. “He had that chip on his shoulder, that edge and that carried throughout his career.
“When it came to big games and big moments against Open Division teams, he wasn’t scared. He rose to the occasion when a lot of guys would crumble.”
